Adirondack Style Furniture

How it all started
Instead of saying "What If?" we said "Why Not!" The traditional Adirondack Chair was the inspiration for Uncle John's Woodshop to go from a dream to reality.
The Adirondack Style Furniture dates back to the 1870's and is still as popular today as it was then.
Living in Florida creates a unique environment that includes extreme humidity, torrential downpours, hurricanes, tornadoes and yes, even snow in some areas. In order for our furniture to have the beauty and longevity we desired, we educated ourselves on the types of wood that are native to our state. We discovered that Cypress had the qualities we were looking for and in fact, almost duplicated those found in Western Red Cedar, another popular wood used in the construction of outdoor furniture and homes.
This species of Cypress has magical properties. It is lightweight, and has an incredible thermal co-efficient, which means even on hot days, it is cool to sit in. The bacteria and fungal resistance of the wood ensures long life. Most importantly, it is 80% the strength of Oak, and is the most desirable wood for outdoor furniture.
In addition to these characteristics, we are proud that we are able to get our lumbar from a local saw mill, therefore supporting our neighbors!
